Music Scholarship and Places - Admission 2026

We will be holding musical aptitude assessments for Music Scholarship and Places in September 2025. 17 of the Year 7 places are offered on the basis of musical aptitude. These places are aimed at supporting talented musicians who will enrich the musical life of the school. Applicants for these places need not be from the priority areas or be Catholic, but would be expected to respect the Catholic ethos of the school and take an active part in its musical and liturgical life.

Parents wishing to apply should submit the Music Aptitude Assessment Form below.

All applicants will be invited to attend an Aural Assessment Test. The aural test will consist of a set of recorded sounds and music focusing on musical features such as pitch, melody, texture and rhythm. Set gaps will allow candidates time to give their responses to each question. Successful applicants from this test will be invited to attend an individual Musical Aptitude Assessment. For this assessment, candidates are asked to prepare two contrasting pieces on their main instrument or voice. As an alternative, they may choose to offer performances on two different instruments or voice, however, it should be noted that candidates are encouraged to perform at their highest level.

Please note that this only applies to Music Scholarship/Places. There is no change to the procedure for parents wishing to apply for a general place at the school.
