St. Angela believed in actions and being active in our faith. 

We have several fundraising events throughout the year supporting our local charities. As a Christian community, and as Ursulines, we place great focus on being of service to others, demonstrating the Ursuline virtue of ‘Serviam’.  We have a duty to serve those around us in the way Jesus taught.  

In October, we hold our annual Harvest Festival Service. Students are asked to bring in various items including tinned goods, dried food, toiletries, and art and craft materials which go to local charities in Brentwood and Essex.  In 2023, we supported Basildon Women’s Aid, St Francis Hospice, The Little Haven Children’s Hospice and The Brentwood Foodbank. 

Lent marks our 'Len-tin' drive where students are challenged to donate as many tinned goods as they can. This is a House competition and is taken very seriously by many in the school community. In 2024, we donated over 1,600 tins of food to The Brentwood Foodbank and St Vincent de Paul Foodbank in Southend. 

Throughout each year, the House Teams lead different activities to raise money for their chosen charities. Recently we raised over £500 for the St Vincent de Paul Society. 

Serviam Group  

Our Serviam Group is rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and social justice themes. We meet regularly, talk about global issues such as poverty, human rights issues, trade justice and will lead different fundraising events throughout the year.  

The motto for the Serviam group is: 

“Raising awareness; raising funds; raising hope” 

Traditionally, Serviam week takes place in February when students from the group lead all the assemblies to raise awareness of how our students can make a difference. They are in charge of managing the Harvest and Len-tin donations.
